‘Whorkshops for Climate & Energy Action Plans’

The French ‘Climate & Energy Action Plans’ (CEAP) are developing and urging local authorities to invent new processes along with local actors of their territories. Supported by the ADEME - the French Environment and Energy Management Agency, Energy Cities organises workshops aimed at exchanging experiences, focused on action: they are called the ‘Action!’ workshops. (‘A l’action!’ in French).

The objective of these workshops is both to help local authorities to set up ambitious Climate & Energy Plans and to identify the solutions that can be transferred to other authorities.

The participative character of the workshops limits the number of participants to about 40. Every workshop is hosted by a member-city of Energy Cities and most of the time takes place in parallel to an event organised by the host city.

The Energy & Climate discussion list

The French Energy & Climate discussion list (Liste de discussion Energie-Climat) is the largest discussion list dedicated to processes of local Climate and Energy Action Plans in France. It was created in 2007 by Energy Cities, our network of European local authorities. This list is only accessible for local authorities engaged in –or willing to engage in, a CEAP process. It is aimed at producing continuous exchanges all over the year.

This list gathers over 600 subscribers: electedntatives, local authorities managers : CEAP manager, Environment, Energy, Urban planning, Communication managers, ect, institutions representatives : ADEME, MEEDDM, representatives of associations working in the field of climate and energy.

Objectives of the list:

• Gathering people who manage a process for a Climate and Energy Action Plan in their local authority, or at a previous stage, peole who are reflecting on setting it up;
• Freely exchanging on practices and concerns;
• Preparing the ’Action!’ participative workshops Energy Cities organises twice a year.

What is Energy Cities doing in the project?

Since 2007, Energy Cities:

• has created and organised these workshops in a partnership with the French Environment and Energy Management Agency ADEME,
• has hosted the workshops in the member-cities of the network,
• has moderated the Energy and Climate discussion list.
