Paris is on the move!

With the developments of the Display® campaign and the first anniversary of its climate agency, 2012 is expected to be full of action in Paris!

France’s largest Display® poster is in Paris!

The City of Paris joined the Display campaign in 2012. Last February, passersby discovered the 2008-2010 energy performance of the city hall of the 18th district of Paris.

The municipalities of 4 Parisian districts (12th, 13th, 14th and 18th) engaged to display their energy consumption and to take action in favour of public and city employees awareness.

Among others, the 12th district municipality acquired low-energy light bulbs, about 50 new windows and set up a heating plan (less heating in the evenings and week-ends).

After undertaking its energy performance diagnosis in 2008, the 13th district municipality lead an environmental analysis aimed at identifying the factors influencing energy performance. They are also currently proceeding to a greenhouse gas diagnosis.

In the 14th disctrict, in addition to refurbishment and thermal retrofitting, awareness-raising actions are implemented to encourage all users to reduce their energy and water consumption.

The 18th district municipality already carried out significant retrofitting works, as replacing the glass roof and windows. From February 13th to March 1st 2012, the municipality displayed the Display® poster indicating their energy performance on the forefront of their building.

The 2nd and 3rd districts will soon join the Display® campaign.

The Parisian climate agency celebrates its first year of existence

The Parisian climate agency (Agence Parisienne du Climat), was initiated by the City of Paris and celebrates its 1st anniversary in 2012.

Today, this independent, multi-partner association counts more than 60 partners. It aims at supporting the city in reaching the objectives of its climate action plan for 2020*:

  • a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions,
  • a 25% reduction in energy consumption,
  • a 25% part of renewables in the energy use.

*on a 2004 basis

The president of the agency is Denis Baupin, a deputy-mayor of Paris and a member of Energy Cities’ Board of Directors.

Paris is a member of Energy Cities and a signatory to the Covenant of Mayors.
