Or l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne est clairement plus \u00e0 m\u00eame\nde relever certains d\u00e9fis que d\u2019autres. Certaines de ces industries\npourraient \u00eatre \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9es, mais cela supposerait d\u2019investir des sommes\ncolossales dans des \u00e9quipements neufs alors que l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne vert peut remplacer\npresque directement le charbon et le gaz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stockage au niveau du r\u00e9seau :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019un des principaux d\u00e9fis\nauxquels doit faire face un r\u00e9seau d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 verte est l\u2019\u00e9cart de\nproduction entre l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 et l\u2019hiver, notamment dans les pays les plus au nord. Utiliser\nl\u2019exc\u00e9dent de production solaire (ou \u00e9olienne si la demande est faible) en \u00e9t\u00e9\npour produire de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne vert qui sera ensuite utilis\u00e9 en hiver permettrait\nd\u2019y rem\u00e9dier (<a href=\"https:\/\/about.bnef.com\/blog\/liebreich-separating-hype-from-hydrogen-part-two-the-demand-side\/\">Michael Liebreich de BNEF a fait quelques simulations\ndisponibles ici<\/a>). Le co\u00fbt marginal de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 produite \u00e0 partir d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne vert est\ncertes \u00e9lev\u00e9, mais cela importe peu pour trois raisons&nbsp;: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) le co\u00fbt global d\u2019un r\u00e9seau\nlargement aliment\u00e9 en \u00e9nergies renouvelables est relativement faible, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) toutes les sources d\u2019\u00e9nergie\nintermittentes comme les centrales d\u2019\u00e9cr\u00eatage de pointe fonctionnant au gaz ont\ndes co\u00fbts marginaux bien plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s,&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 produite \u00e0\npartir d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne vert est vue comme une solution pour d\u00e9carboner le r\u00e9seau en\np\u00e9riode de pic de consommation \u2013 imaginez une semaine particuli\u00e8rement froide\net sans vent en janvier &#8211;&nbsp; mais n\u2019a pas\nvocation \u00e0 alimenter le r\u00e9seau toute l\u2019ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transport : <\/strong>C\u2019est l\u00e0 que les vertus de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne sont\nles plus flagrantes. &nbsp;Cependant, nous\nn\u2019aborderons pas dans cet article le transport maritime hauturier ni\nl\u2019aviation, deux secteurs sur lesquels la plupart des villes n\u2019ont aucun\ncontr\u00f4le.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Navires :<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globenewswire.com\/news-release\/2020\/11\/26\/2134342\/0\/en\/DFDS-Partnership-aims-to-develop-hydrogen-ferry.html\">Quelle<\/a> que soit leur taille, les <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2019\/08\/21\/worlds-largest-electric-ferry\/\">bateaux \u00e9lectriques<\/a> \u00e0 accumulateur ou \u00e0 <a href=\"http:\/\/seabubbles.com\/en\/\">hydrog\u00e8ne<\/a> sont pour bient\u00f4t. L\u2019arbitrage entre l\u2019espace n\u00e9cessaire au stockage de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne et le poids des accumulateurs ainsi que l\u2019utilisation qui sera faite de ces navires seront des facteurs essentiels pour d\u00e9terminer la technologie la mieux adapt\u00e9e. Par ailleurs, les ports \u00e9tant \u00a0pressentis comme des endroits favorables \u00e0 l\u2019installation de p\u00f4les hydrog\u00e8ne, il y a fort \u00e0 parier que cette source d\u2019\u00e9nergie \u00a0devienne tr\u00e8s populaire dans ce secteur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trains :<\/strong> Le train est certainement le mode de\u00a0 transport o\u00f9 l\u2019\u00e9lectrification\u00a0 &#8211; typiquement sous forme de cat\u00e9naires au-dessus des voies &#8211; est la plus d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e. Mais lorsqu\u2019il n\u2019est pas possible ou qu\u2019il revient trop cher d\u2019installer des cat\u00e9naires, \u00a0d\u2019autres solutions existent\u00a0: de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/news\/ireland\/irish-news\/plans-to-buy-600-electric-and-battery-electric-powered-carriages-over-10-years-1.3906238\">tr\u00e8s nombreux trains \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 accumulateur<\/a> sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 en service, et <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/us\/hydrogen-powered-trains-could-replace-diesel-engines-in-germany\/ar-BB1bhyc6\">plus en plus de trains sont propuls\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne,<\/a> ou associent hydrog\u00e8ne et accumulateur \u00e9lectrique. Toutes ces options continueront probablement de coexister pendant des dizaines d\u2019ann\u00e9es, les distances parcourues et les diff\u00e9rents usages (ainsi que la disponibilit\u00e9 ou non d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne vert)\u00a0 conditionnant le choix de l\u2019option la plus adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 la situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bus : <\/strong>Les bus fonctionnant avec des piles \u00e0 combustible \u00e0 hydrog\u00e8ne ou \u00e9quip\u00e9s d\u2019accumulateurs \u00e9lectriques <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-northern-ireland-55149620\">se d\u00e9veloppent rapidement en Europe<\/a> m\u00eame si nous sommes encore loin derri\u00e8re <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.technavio.com\/blog\/electric-buses-in-china-largest-electric-bus-market\">la Chine qui concentre 99 %<\/a> de la flotte mondiale de bus \u00e9lectriques. Les deux motorisations n\u2019\u00e9mettent aucun gaz d\u2019\u00e9chappement et contribuent \u00e0 r\u00e9duire la pollution de l\u2019air au niveau local.\u00a0 \u00a0Mais les bus \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 accumulateur sont clairement la solution \u00e0 privil\u00e9gier pour plusieurs raisons\u00a0: ils sont fabriqu\u00e9s en s\u00e9rie,\u00a0 le co\u00fbt d\u2019investissement dans les infrastructures est moindre et ils \u00e9vitent les pertes d\u2019\u00e9nergie li\u00e9es au proc\u00e9d\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse. Certes, les bus \u00e9quip\u00e9s de piles \u00e0 combustible \u00e0 hydrog\u00e8ne offrent l\u2019avantage de pouvoir \u00eatre ravitaill\u00e9s tr\u00e8s rapidement mais les bus \u00e9lectriques, \u00e0 condition de disposer d\u2019une autonomie suffisante, peuvent \u00eatre recharg\u00e9s la nuit et leurs \u00e9normes batteries peuvent aider \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre aux pics de consommation gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la technologie de v\u00e9hicule-r\u00e9seau (V2G).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>V\u00e9hicules utilitaires lourds<\/strong>\u00a0(camions de collecte des ordures m\u00e9nag\u00e8res ou transport de marchandises) : ici l\u2019avantage va clairement aux v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques par rapport aux v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 pile \u00e0 combustible \u00e0 hydrog\u00e8ne. \u00a0L\u2019autonomie des batteries actuelles est suffisante et le fait que les <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scania.com\/group\/en\/home\/newsroom\/news\/2020\/electric-trucks-increasingly-compelling-option.html\">grands constructeurs <\/a>\u00a0soient entr\u00e9s sur ce march\u00e9 a grandement facilit\u00e9 la vie des utilisateurs de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques. Comme pour les bus, les infrastructures sont plus simples, et les technologies qui permettront bient\u00f4t aux v\u00e9hicules de communiquer avec le r\u00e9seau (V2G) ne feront que renforcer la balance en leur faveur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Voitures particuli\u00e8res et v\u00e9hicules\nutilitaires l\u00e9gers :<\/strong> ici l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne est \u00e0 proscrire. La plupart des &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MaartenvBiezen\/status\/1334123318161666053\">constructeurs europ\u00e9ens se sont retir\u00e9s du march\u00e9 de\nl\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne<\/a> et il y a une bonne raison \u00e0\ncela. Les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques \u00e0 accumulateur sont techniquement bien plus\navanc\u00e9s et il en existe pour tous les go\u00fbts et toutes les bourses, alors que\nl\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 un hydrog\u00e8ne vert \u00e0 un prix abordable reste&nbsp; du domaine du futur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportenvironment.org\/press\/e-fuel-would-be-wasted-cars-while-it%E2%80%99s-badly-needed-decarbonise-planes-and-ships-%E2%80%93-study\">Des travaux r\u00e9cents de la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration europ\u00e9enne pour le transport\net l\u2019environnement&nbsp;<\/a>\u00ab&nbsp;montrent que la\nconversion de seulement une fraction du parc automobile aux carburants de\nsynth\u00e8se (dont le e-diesel et l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne) en 2050 n\u00e9cessiterait la\nconstruction des parcs \u00e9oliens&nbsp; d\u2019une\nsuperficie totale \u00e9quivalente \u00e0 celle du Danemark.&nbsp;\u00bb<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chauffage domestique :<\/strong> sur le papier, utiliser l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne pour\nle chauffage domestique semble tomber sous le sens. Il suffirait d\u2019ajouter un\npeu d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne au m\u00e9lange de gaz pour faire baisser imm\u00e9diatement les\n\u00e9missions. Malheureusement, les experts sont unanimes pour dire que c\u2019est l\u00e0\nune fausse bonne id\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Les <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iee.fraunhofer.de\/en\/presse-infothek\/press-media\/overview\/2020\/Hydrogen-and-Heat-in-Buildings.html\"><em>r\u00e9sultats de cette \u00e9tude sont tr\u00e8s clair<\/em><\/a><em>s <\/em><em>: l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne n\u2019est pas une option viable\npour le chauffage des b\u00e2timents. La quantit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 d\u2019origine\nrenouvelable n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 la production d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne vert pour cet usage serait en\neffet de 500 \u00e0 600 fois sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 la quantit\u00e9 requise pour chauffer ces\nm\u00eames b\u00e2timents avec des pompes \u00e0 chaleur.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab&nbsp;Les \u00e9carts de rendement\nsont tels qu\u2019il n\u2019est absolument pas raisonnable de&nbsp; proposer une utilisation \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle de\nl\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne pour chauffer les b\u00e2timents&nbsp;\u00bb explique le Prof. Dr. Clemens\nHoffmann, directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de Fraunhofer IEE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans un article du Times, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/emilygosden\/status\/1335852327815831554\">Emily Gosden<\/a> rappelle que convertir \u00e0 l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne toutes les\nchaudi\u00e8res au gaz du Royaume-Uni \u00ab&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/switching-all-boilers-to-hydrogen-is-impractical-zw00f3v9l\">n\u00e9cessiterait de multiplier par 30 la\ncapacit\u00e9 de production des parcs \u00e9oliens en mer&nbsp;\u00bb.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/energymonitor.ai\/sector\/heating-cooling\/heating-homes-with-hydrogen-are-we-being-sold-a-pup\">Jan Rosenow souligne \u00e9galement,<\/a> \u00e0 propos de l\u2019utilisation de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne comme source de\nchaleur que&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/heatpolicyrich\/status\/1278222046892343296?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Centrica<\/a>,&nbsp;la plus grande et\nla plus ancienne soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de distribution de gaz de Grande-Bretagne, a r\u00e9cemment\nrappel\u00e9 qu\u2019il \u00ab&nbsp;faudra sans doute attendre encore plus de dix ans avant de\npouvoir utiliser de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne pour le chauffage domestique, avec un co\u00fbt pour\nle consommateur qui reste inconnu \u00e0 ce jour \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quant aux <a href=\"https:\/\/www.treehugger.com\/hydrogen-fuel-cell-e-bike-takes-minutes-fill-and-has-mile-range-4858233\">v\u00e9los \u00e0 hydrog\u00e8ne<\/a>, mieux\nvaut ne pas en parler\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne est souvent pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 comme la solution \u00e0 de nombreux d\u00e9fis de la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique.
