FODSA’s main objective is the creation of a Zero Waste Society, which uses urban waste to generate social benefits and its members include all of the municipalities of the Region of Central Macedonia.
The Regional Association of Solid Waste Management Bodies of Central Macedonia was established in 2014, with the merger of 14 bodies and has the responsibility of managing the waste of the 38 municipalities of Central Macedonia, including the prefectures of Thessaloniki, Pieria, Halkidiki, Serres, Imathia, Pella and Kilkis.
It’s main responsibility is the operation and management of 11 Sanitary Landfill Sites and eight Transhipment Stations serving a population of 2,000,000 citizens as well as raising awareness of the reduction and rational management of waste.
