How do we make sufficiency desirable?

Changing cultures and organizations with Mathieu Saujot, coordinator Lifestyles in transition, IDDRI

Beyond being a widely used concept especially in political communication, sufficiency also means concrete changes in behaviours and has recently become a key concept in the transition vocabulary. In an article published last June and co-written with Sarah Thiriot from the French Agency for Ecological Transition, Mathieu Saujot details 10 misconceptions on sufficiency and answers each of them with a social sciences’ outlook. From the restriction of liberties to legitimacy from decision-makers, the authors make the case against preconceived ideas that are holding back action towards more sufficiency. This second webinar will allow us to develop his paper and elaborate more on the role of local authorities in the sufficiency realm.

You can access the paper (in French) here.

This webinar is part of a monthly webinar series we organise to rethink local social and economic models in cities. Once you have registered for this session, you can join any of the upcoming events in this series of the ‘Resource-wise and socially-just local economies’ Hub.
