ABOUT US

Energy Cities empowers cities and citizens to shape and transition to future proof cities.

We showcase concrete alternatives deployed by cities, we advocate to change political and economic governance at all levels, and we foster a wide cultural change leading to a futureproofed society. Energy Cities’ community is composed by local leaders of thousands of cities in 30 European countries.

We believe that the energy transition is about more than renewable energy or great technologies: It is about a wise use of resources while strengthening local participation and well-being in a democratic Europe.

Energy Cities team is governed according to holacratic principles. Holacracy is a method of organizational governance based on decentralized management. Holacracy relies on collective intelligence and avoid having the organization under the influence of personal feelings or tempers of top managers.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

As an intern, you will be an integral part of our team and you’ll be immersed in the day-to-day work of our communications and policy team. You will support the creation, launch, and dissemination of a campaign focused on community energyβ€”from idea to execution.

You will help transform complex EU policy topics into engaging, accessible content, and contribute to relationship-building with media, partners, and stakeholders.

  • Creating written and visual communication content (articles, videos, graphics, social media posts)
  • Crafting campaign narratives and messages
  • Drafting press releases, blog posts, and case studies

  • Understanding EU energy policy and engaging with institutions
  • Attending EU events and engaging in political and advocacy discussions

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive intern with a keen interest in communication, EU policies, sustainability, and local governance β€” paired with strong writing skills and a natural ability to build connections with people.

You have an excellent command of English, both spoken and written, and are either already familiar with or eager to learn digital tools for content creation (e.g. for social media, visual design, or campaign development).

It is bonus if you bring:

  • Familiarity with EU institutions, urban policy, or the energy transition
  • Previous experience in writing, visual content creation, or working on communication campaigns
