The city of Schwetzingen is situated in the South-West of Germany. Schwetzingen locally implements the regional climate protection law that has been adopted in 2013.
It aims for a reduction of CO2 emissions by 90% by 2050 (compared to 1990 levels). In order to put this objective into practice, the regional government adopted an integrated energy and climate concept (Integriertes Energie- und Klimaschutzkonzept Baden-Württemberg, IEKK). In July 2015 an adaptation strategy has complemented this initial roadmap.
