Francisco speaks English, German, Portuguese, Spanish
Francisco joined Energy Cities in April 2017 to manage projects on urban sustainable energy management, smart cities and energy finance. He holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering, an Executive Master in Management and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Before joining Energy Cities, he worked for almost a decade at Lisboa E-Nova (Lisbon Energy and Environment Agency). During that time, he gained a deep knowledge on how cities and their stakeholders operate. His areas of expertise are climate neutrality, sustainable energy finance, sustainable energy (energy efficiency and renewables), local governance, fossil-free energy districts, energy democracy and renewable energy communities.
Francisco believes cities’ and communities’ actions are crucial for an effective energy transition. As a Brussels resident, he actively participates as a member of a local energy cooperative and purchases vegetables and fruits from a local network of farmers.
