Loar joined Energy Cities in July 2023 as a project and policy officer to support local heating and cooling planning in EU member states. He is passionate about identifying fair, scalable, resource-wise and spatially adapted solutions to decarbonize energy, for which he believes building local capacity and resilience is critical.
Originally from Gothenburg, Sweden, he holds a master’s degree in human Geography (urban studies) at ULB and VUB in Brussels. Before joining Energy Cities, he was a trainee at the European Parliament, where he mainly worked on energy related files.
Outside the office, he likes to cook, paint, and explore mountains, regions, cities, and neighbourhoods.
