The Covenant of Mayors initiative, launched in 2008, was born intrinsically linked to the European Union’s 2020 climate and energy package.

Close to 6,500 signatory municipalities are voluntarily committed to going beyond the EU objective of 20% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2020.

Following the 2030 EU climate and energy policy framework adopted in October 2014 and the new EU target of reducing CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030, the Covenant of Mayors Office – led by Energy Cities – is launching a survey to gather feedback from stakeholders on the future of the Covenant of Mayors. This survey, translated in all EU languages, is open for participation until 23 September 2015. Don’t miss this opportunity to help shape the future of the Covenant of Mayors!

The results of the survey will provide inputs to the European Commission’s policy on the Covenant of Mayors. It will also feed into the own-initiative opinion on the Covenant future that the Committee of the Regions is currently preparing. The results of the survey are expected to be published in October 2015.
