Born in 1971, Christine Kugler studied administrative sciences at the University of Konstanz. Later she conducted part-time studies on Sustainable Development at the Interdisciplinary Center for Sustainable Development and Environment (CDE) at the University of Bern in Switzerland. Christine Kugler was elected by the City Council in the general assembly in December 2020, and she has been in her role as Head of the Department for Climate and Environmental Protection since January 2021.
The department, which was newly founded in 2021, takes on a leading role in climate protection, climate adaptation and Environmental and nature conservation.

Christine Kugler previously worked in various management positions for the public utility company (Stadtwerke München) since 2002. As part of this she was Head of the public pools since 2007, where, among other things, she introduced a CO₂ footprint and a public welfare balance in conjunction with a comprehensive sustainability strategy.
