Breaking news: #COP21 cancelled as cities have put the world back on track

At an emergency press conference organised this morning, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced the amazing news: local authorities have won the fight against climate change.

In a short but very emotional speech, UN Secretary General congratulated local authorities for their outstanding achievements in reducing CO2 emissions and pollution, improving energy efficiency and making the best of their local renewable energy sources.

In light of this, the United Nation Organisation has decided to cancel the COP21 that was supposed to be held in Paris at the end of the year. “There is no need for such a conference anymore. Cities have done what we couldn’t do at this governance level”, Ban Ki-moon says.

The city of Paris, which was looking forward to welcoming the Climate Conference, is however very happy with this reversal. Célia Blauel, Deputy Mayor in charge of the Environment and Sustainable Development, affirms that “The city of Paris itself has been involved in decentralised cooperation for a long time and has always been convinced that cities were holding the key to a better future”More about Paris’ action

Energy Cities is obviously overjoyed and we invite all of you to join us in Aberdeen to celebrate!
