ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Project Manager to provide support to the coordination and implementation of several EU-funded projects and initiatives managed by Energy Cities, covering topics such as citizen-led energy renovation, energy communities and climate adaptation.
As Project Manager, you will be part of the core teams of these initiatives, contributing to their strategic coordination, analytical work, and stakeholder engagement. You will work closely with consortium secretariats, national and local partner structures, and EU funders, ensuring that activities are delivered on time, on budget, and in line with contractual obligations.
This position requires someone who combines EU project management rigour with strong coordination and facilitation skills, autonomy, and the ability to juggle several projects and partners in parallel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the strategic coordination of multi-partner projects as part of the core team/secretariat, including participation in regular coordination meetings and the preparation of in-person consortium meetings;
Lead or contribute to analytical tasks (e.g. regulatory and policy assessments, comparative studies, impact analyses), and translate findings into narrative reports and policy recommendations;
Organise and chair regular coordination meetings with national or local implementing partners: share project updates, monitor implementation, provide guidance on delivery of activities, remind partners of their grant obligations, and identify risks and open questions to raise with the coordinator;
Participate in project-level coordination meetings with the lead coordinator, supporting networks, and work package leaders; report on progress, address questions, flag risks, and discuss mitigation measures;
Facilitate technical, financial and KPIs reporting processes between project coordinators and the partners under your responsibility;
Support the design and roll-out of replication, capacity-building or mentoring programmes aimed at extending project results to new structures, regions, or countries and knowledge transfer;
Contribute to communication and dissemination activities for the projects, in coordination with Energy Cities’ communications team;
Identify and capitalize on synergies with other EU-funded projects.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required qualifications and experience
Master’s degree in political science, international relations, energy, environment, engineering, or a related field;
Minimum 2 years of experience contributing to the coordination of multi-partner projects, ideally under EU-funded programmes (Horizon Europe, LIFE, INTERREG, or service contracts with EC DGs/agencies);
Experience conducting or supervising qualitative research (e.g. stakeholder interviews) and translating findings into narrative reports with policy recommendations.
Proficient English (C level) is required; knowledge of French and/or other EU languages is an asset;
Good command of project management tools (Gantt charts, financial and technical reporting procedures, collaborative/agile tools).
Valued skills and qualities
Strong interest and or experience in energy communities, cooperative models, collective renovation of buildings and climate adaptation;
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities across parallel projects;
Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, and multi-stakeholder learning events;
High level of autonomy and initiative combined with genuine team engagement;
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including facilitation and reporting;
Comfort working in an international, intercultural, and multilingual environment;
Proactive and initiative-driven approach to daily work.
Nice to have
Knowledge of the EU policy landscape on energy communities, building renovation and climate adaptation
Experience designing or running replication/mentoring programmes targeting new organisations or territories.
Affinity with collaborative and self-managing organisational models (e.g. Holacracy/Sociocracy).
WHAT WE OFFER
Close-ended contract (CDD), full-time.
A salary aligned with the sector, and depending on experience: 36 349 € – 37 677€ gross annually.
