ALBERTVILLE is a central city in the Alpine valley in France. Because of its environment, the city is very sensitive to the consequences of climate change, energy and ecological transition issues, and the challenges of water and food resilience. With the support of BETA Technological Center (UVic-UCC), Albertville focuses on the Food Systems pillar, contributing to identifying the needs, disseminating the learnings locally, and organising relevant events on the topic for the French stakeholders.
AMIESTAS is a public institution of the City of Vilnius (Lithuania), the 2025 European Green Capital. Its purpose is to serve the public interest by carrying out activities to improve the living environment. Among other things, it works on the promotion of energy efficiency in multi-apartment buildings, community building, and emissions reduction. AMIESTAS will work on the Fossil-free Districts pillar with the help of FEDARENE. It will identify the needs, disseminate the learnings locally, and organise one promotional and one dissemination event for the Lithuanian stakeholders.
CALENZANO is an Italian municipality located in the Florentine area. Its commitment to fighting climate change has led to specific environmental and urban planning policies, improved infrastructure and management of public assets, as well as better services for citizens. The city adopted its Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) in 2019, updated it in 2021, and is currently reviewing the plan. Supported by ACR+, Calenzano will work on the learning pillar Fair and Circular Economies, identifying the needs, disseminating the learnings locally, and organising one promotional and one dissemination event to engage with the Italian stakeholders.
GUIMÃRAES is a Portuguese municipality with a long history of climate action and citizen involvement. Selected to be one of the EU 100 Climate Neutral Cities Mission, Guimarães was already strongly committed to reducing CO2 emissions, as a signatory of the Covenant of Mayors for Energy and Climate. The city focuses on the Local Governance pillar. Together with Energy Cities, it will identify the needs, disseminate the learnings locally, and organise one promotional and one dissemination event locally to engage with the Portuguese stakeholders.
POREČ-PARENZO is a Croatian municipality located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula. Covenant of Mayors signatory since 2012, its efforts towards sustainable development have been widely recognised. Indeed, it has been awarded as Smart City in 2017 and 2018, and declared the ‘most proactive city on the Adriatic coast’ by Greenpeace. Helped by REScoop.eu, Poreč will work on the Community Energy pillar to identify the needs, disseminate the learnings locally, and organise relevant events on the topic for the Croatian stakeholders.
ACR+ is an international network of cities and regions committed to promoting sustainable resource management and accelerating the transition towards a circular economy on their territories and beyond. ACR+ is responsible for coordinating the capacity-building programme and will work on the Resource-wise and Socially Just Local Economies topic with Calenzano, contributing to mentoring and peer-to-peer learning.
ANCI Toscana (ANCI) supports the system of local and regional Tuscan autonomies and it is guided by the principles of freedom, democracy, and citizen participation. It represents 269 municipalities – 99% of the Tuscan municipalities and 98% of the total population. Its main aim is the promotion and strengthening of the institutional, regulatory, financial, and organisational autonomy of municipalities. ANCI will work closely with Calenzano and will participate in the needs assessment workshop.
CLIMACT is a consultancy company whose mission is to support organisations in developing and implementing their climate strategy. Its services encompass prospective studies such as low carbon and energy roadmaps, GHG reduction strategies, carbon footprints, life cycle assessments, transition plans, regulations compliance and legal support. Climact will contribute to the learning programme common track and focus on further developing the EUCityCalculator scenario modelling tool as a powerful strategic and planning tool for cities.
ENERGY CITIES (ENC) is a network of cities committed to reaching climate neutrality by 2050. It is a learning community built around a “local and sustainable first” approach. For over 30 years, it has been a trusted partner of the European Union. It coordinates initiatives like the Covenant of Mayors, implements impactful EU projects, and represents cities in the field of energy transition at the EU level. ENC coordinates SPARKLE and is responsible for its promotion. It leads the preparation of the learning objectives. Moreover, it supports Guimarães and contributes transversally to all learning pillars.
FEDARENE (FED) is the European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment. It empowers energy agencies and regions to work towards a united and climate-neutral Europe. It acts as a bridge between the regional and European levels, facilitating interregional cooperation while adapting to local specificities to ensure a just transition. Its members drive the energy transition and climate action in their territories through ambitious policy development and strategic facilitation actions. FED will contribute to all the learning pillars and will particularly support AMIESTAS.
The University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia (UVIC-UCC) is an educational and research institution dedicated to promoting technological innovation, sustainability and cooperation with entrepreneurship, especially via its Technological Center in Biodiversity, Ecology and Environmental and Food Technology (BETA TC). It will contribute to the Sustainable Food Systems & Land policies learning pillar, and will in particular support Albertville.
Laboratorio da Paisagem (LL) strives to be a reference for international best practices in sustainable development policies. It promotes knowledge and stimulates innovation through scientific research and the development of new, sustainable projects. It aims to transfer this know-how to the territory, thereby changing habits and behaviours by raising awareness among citizens. LL will work closely with the city of Guimarães, participating in the needs assessment workshop and supporting the city in further developing and implementing its climate plans.
REScoop.eu (RESC) is the European Federation Of Citizen Energy Cooperatives. It is a growing network of 1900 European energy cooperatives and their 1.250.000 members. RESC is leading the Community Energy pillar and will support Poreč. Additionally, it co-leads the Local Governance pillar, ensuring that citizens and community benefits are put at the heart of integrated climate planning.
Urban Lab Torino (ULT) is an Italian centre for documentation, expertise, dissemination and debate. It offers the public and professionals the opportunity to explore urban transformation policies, plans and projects by looking at local experiences and international good practices. ULT is an expert in facilitation and participatory methods to address urban transition pathways. It is responsible for organising the needs assessment workshops with the lead cities and their invited fellow cities to gather inputs for the preparation of the learning objectives and content. ULT will also coordinate the organisation of the winter/summer schools.
