Baden Württemberg set on achieving its heating and cooling decarbonisation

In European cities, most of our energy consumption is used for heating and cooling. If cities want to reach their target of climate neutrality by 2050, they need to start planning how to phase out fossil fuels from heating and cooling now

… And this is what the German region of Baden-Württemberg is determined to do! The Länder recently required all its cities of more than 20 000 inhabitants to develop a vision for their CO2-neutral heat supply 2050. Heat planning is crucial if cities want to decarbonise their heating and cooling sector. And with proper access to heat consumption data, and technical and financial support from the relevant authorities, they will be fit to deliver their transition roadmaps to fossil-free districts.
