Like every year, the European Sustainable Energy Week will bring together energy experts and practitioners from across Europe. Under the theme “Powering a fair and competitive green transition” many events will take place between the 10th and the 12th of June – in person and online.
Are you looking for events focused on urban challenges and showcasing creative solutions developed by municipalities and communities to increase energy security and ensure fair access to renewables all over Europe? Have a look at the below sessions and don’t forget to register.
10 June 2025 – 14:30 to 16:00 CEST
This session will explore policy tools and local best practices to ensure affordable, decarbonised housing and combat energy poverty in European cities. It will address critical questions such as: How can we ensure that renovation and energy performance policies directly benefit low-income and vulnerable citizens? How can public funding be targeted to support those who need it the most? How can we empower individuals and neighbourhoods to enhance energy efficiency, boost renewable energy use, and reduce energy bills?
11 June 2025 – 09:30 to 11:00 CEST
How can we collaboratively address financial barriers in cities’ energy transitions? This session will allow you to discover EU instruments like the European City Facility and the EU Energy Communities Facility, and the opportunities they offer for cities and other local actors, such as energy communities.
11 June 2025 – 11:30 to 13:00 CEST
Discover the creativity of energy communities working locally to build flexible and inclusive energy systems despite legal barriers. How can EU policy better support their work? Experts from five LIFE sister projects will talk from the ground. During the session, two policy advisors will be their sounding board.
12 June 2025 – 14:00 to 15:30 CEST
What kinds of tools and strategies are implemented at country level to support local authorities in their task of reaching the ambitious EU energy and climate goals? This session will look at several national level initiatives taking place in different Member States, spanning from strengthening knowledge and skills to providing data and supporting the development and implementation of local energy and climate actions. Local and national actors will discuss the challenges and opportunities of these initiatives, their synergies and the potential for replication to other national contexts.
Since the EUCF was launched in 2019, seven calls allowed more than 350 local authorities to develop their investment concepts for energy transition projects. The EUCF launched an online and in-person learning programme – an opportunity for EUCF beneficiaries to increase their skills and knowledge on practical tools for the development and implementation of their investment concept.
As part of the learning programme, the EUCF Intensive Day on the 10th of June is an opportunity for EUCF beneficiaries to meet their peers in-person, to give feedback on each other’s investment concepts, and to receive targeted advice from financial and technical experts on the next steps to take.
