Driven by her passion for urban resilience and the (re)democratisation of resources, Stella joined Energy Cities in September 2024 as a project manager to work on different projects on positive and clean energy districts, energy communities and citizen engagement.
Prior to her move to Brussels, Stella earned a Master’s degree in Environment and Resource Management from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Following her studies, she worked as a researcher and project manager at the university’s Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM), focusing on urban-rural governance and bottom-up approaches to transforming city-region food systems. She is also fascinated by debates on post-growth alternatives and the urban commons that led her to co-direct a documentary on the topic in 2020. She has previously worked in Berlin and Athens.
An islander from the European South, Stella grew up cultivating food with her family, always striving for self-sufficiency. Even today, she continues to seek out and collect traditional seeds and varieties from all over the world. She also goes for climbing and bouldering.
