2024 is going to be a big year for cities! With the finalisation of the EU Green Deal, it will be the time for its implementation, at national but especially at local level. It will be very important for Energy Cities to offer/promote towards our members as much learning and meeting opportunities as possible, to exchange and find innovative solutions to shared local challenges.

Climate Chance Summit Europe 2024 – 8 and 9^th February, Liege (Belgium)

This summit will be a major event on the agenda of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union Council in the first half of 2024. It will focus on adaptation to climate change, nature-based solutions, and resilience.

European Summit of Regions and Cities – 18 and 19th March, Mons (Belgium)

Organised by the European Committee of the Regions together with Walloon Region and the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the 10th European Summit of Regions and Cities will bring a new perspective on topics that are at the heart of people’s concerns, such as democracy, sustainable development, the future of the European Union and its enlargement, the need to ensure social, economic and territorial cohesion, and dealing with the consequences of the war against Ukraine.

Translating the Green Deal into local action – 15^th March, Brussels (Belgium)

This high-level event, organised under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, wants to mobilise 550 Mayors around the “Fit for 55” legislative package and see how to localise the European Green Deal and move forward its implementation. It is organised with the support of all main EU initiatives for cities.

EU Sustainable Energy Week – 11^th to 13^th June, Brussels (Belgium) and online

The theme for the 2024 edition of EUSEW, the biggest annual event organised by the European Commission dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe will be “Net-zero energy solutions for a competitive Europe”.

The agenda is still developing, but during this week we also plan to officially launch the first European community of practice to roll-out the development of Integrated Home Renovation Services (IHRS), the so-called One-Stop Shops (OSS) for residential energy renovation, in the framework of our project EU Peers.

Energy Cities annual forum – 26^th to 27^th June, Valencia (Spain)

This year, our annual forum will take place back-to-back with the Cities Mission conference in the 2024 EU Green Capital.

After only than 8 months from our last Annual Forum in Modena, we are motivated to continue our journey to the invisible cities. Our aim is to unveil the remarkable initiatives our members have undertaken to “graft” their cities, spotlighting the transformative efforts of local communities reshaping urban landscapes.

Green City Forum – 2^nd to 8^th September, Brasov (Romania)

This year too we will be partnering with our member Brasov to organise the largest event in Romania dedicated to environmental sustainability.

Assises Européennes de la Transition Énergétique – 10^th to 12^th September, Dunkerque (France)

The most important event on the energy transition for French municipalities will be an occasion to showcase your actions, share projects and debate your ideas during one of the many workshops and panels organised in Dunkerque.
