A new, free training is now available on the Local Transition Learning Centre: Planning the Energy and Climate Transition for Cities.
Designed for local and regional authorities, as well as technicians and changemakers who strive to meet climate goals but feel they miss the right tools and knowledge to turn theory into implementation, this engaging training will guide you in applying the concepts to your daily work.
Composed of three courses including a mix of video lessons, real-world case studies, and interactive exercises, the training will help you combine energy transition, climate resilience, and circular economy goals with actionable strategies. You will receive a certificate upon completion of each course.
Learn how to integrate energy, climate, and circularity into spatial planning for a more resilient and sustainable future.
This course is designed to help you make spatial planning a driving force for climate action, energy transition, and circularity. Through five engaging modules, you’ll explore how to connect energy, climate resilience, and circular economy objectives to your planning processes.
Create data-informed climate strategies by using energy and emissions data to set targets, guide decisions, and engage citizens.
Over four practical modules, you will have a clear understanding of why data is essential for setting credible climate objectives, how to establish baselines and model future trajectories, and how to select and process the right types of data for their needs. Finally, it explores how cities can use data not only to plan and monitor progress but also to engage citizens, shape compelling narratives, and build public support for their transition.
Discover how to apply transition management to co-create inclusive, sustainability-oriented roadmaps!
This course will allow you to explore this robust approach and understand its importance for the development of a transformative and participatory urban planning. By enrolling, you’ll learn how to develop and concretise shared visions, support local experiments, and guide systemic change. Additionally, you’ll be equipped to design and lead collaborative planning processes that can help your city move toward a just and climate-neutral future.
This course will be available from mid-July, but you can already register for it.
Don’t miss this opportunity: join an engaging learning experience towards climate neutrality!
“Planning the Energy and Climate Transition for Cities” is designed and produced by the EU LIFE-financed SPARKLE. This project aims to develop the capacities of over 600 Local and Regional Authorities (LRA), helping to enhance their skills, through providing learning opportunities, tools, support and inspiration to develop and implement their clean energy transition effectively. The successful completion of two courses of your choice in this training allows you to attend one or more summer schools planned in the five SPARKLE cities from March to June 2026. Learn more here!
