An energy system that is no longer dependent on fossil fuels requires close collaboration of us all – from states to municipalities. The European partnership Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) aims to support this collaboration by sharing knowledge and creating real impact in urban transitions. On 18 and 19 September 2023, you will get the chance to learn how to progress towards sustainable cities during the Climate Neutral Districts workshop in Rotterdam (Netherlands).

At this two-day event, you get the opportunity to have a first-hand look at the Dutch National Programme Local Heat Transition (NPLW), in which city districts are successfully trialing different methods to move towards a low-carbon energy system. You will get inspiration from practical lessons that the City of Rotterdam and other Dutch cities gained in neighbourhood-scale projects. Furthermore, there is plenty of space to exchange experiences with fellow urban policy officials from cities all around Europe. And by reflecting on useful approaches for sharing knowledge between city administrations, you help each other and DUT itself to further improve the application of new ideas and insights in practice.

The event aims to involve municipal (or regional level) officials, as well as national level policy makers. People that shape and implement the local heat transition. For participants from other European countries we provide a (maximised) reimbursement for costs for travel and overnight stay.
